SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:The Adventure Begins! \nScenes from the Start of the Lewis & Clark Expedition \nAn Educational Presentation of Twenty Paintings of the Eastern Portion of the Trail \nPresented by Steve Ludeman of Welches\, Oregon \nwww.steveludemanfineart.com \n  \nSaturday\, July 20\, 2024 \n1:00-2:00 pm \nAt the Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Visitor Center \n100 Valmont Drive \nNebraska City\, NE  68410 \nA series of 20 original drawings and paintings tells the story\, from 1802 – 1804\, of President Thomas Jefferson dreaming about having someone explore the western part of the continent\, to Lewis & Clark traveling down the Ohio River and up the Mississippi River\, to the mouth of the Missouri River – a distance of about 1\,400 miles. This art and history project involved a significant amount of research and traveling to significant sites along the trail over the past 3 years. \n“I am working with the national Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation and the National Park Service office in Omaha to use my art to show the crucial first part of the Corps of Discovery story\,” said Mr. Ludeman. \n“We are excited to bring this artist to Nebraska City\,” said Doug Friedli\, Executive Director of the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center. “Steve and his wife visited our Center a year ago to show us several of his works in progress. I am especially interested in seeing his rendition of Camp Wood River\, which is the fort we are currently building on the hill just west of our main building. Steve has interesting stories to tell about each of his pictures. His presentation will be entertaining and educational for people of all ages.”
